Born in Nagoya, Johnny Akihito Noda first became interested in low-brow art in his hometown before making a pilgrimage to California, the genre’s birthplace, eventually moving to San Francisco in 2011. Returning to Japan five years later, the artist established his studio ‘Weird Collections’, presenting the quirky characters he creates through his signature use of colour and unique draughtsmanship.
